Dean of the Faculty of Law, SSU, Doctor of Law Galina Komkova has won the Lawyer of the Year Award in Saratov Region. This decision was made by the Saratov Regional Branch of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, an all-Russian non-profit organisation.

The Lawyer of the Year Award is a recognition of the merits of highly qualified lawyers to society and the state. In 2021, such nominations were presented as Human Rights Activity, Legal Education, Development of Legislation, and Legal Education and Upbringing. Galina Komkova won the For Contribution to Legal Science nomination.

‘I have been fond of legal science since my student days, when I studied at the Saratov Institute of Law, where I entered the postgraduate course under the supervision of Isaak Farber, a well-known Russian legal scholar. Now the Department of Constitutional Law of the SSLA is named after him. I defended my Ph.D. and doctoral dissertations related to human rights,’ Galina Komkova said.

Her contribution to legal science is really impressive. She is the author of over 330 research and educational works with a total volume of about 350 printed sheets. A team of authors with Galina Komkova, has published, including under her editorship, 18 monographs, 24 textbooks, 3 courses of lectures, and 65 textbooks.

At present, Galina Komkova is forming her research school: 43 candidate dissertations and 5 doctoral dissertations have been defended under her scientific supervision. Her students and she study constitutional law, human rights as well as their provision and protection. In addition, Galina Komkova leads two projects supported by RFBR.
