Among the main scientific directions, considered in the journal: fundamental problems of energy conversion in lithium electrochemical systems; physicochemical problems of electrolytes and electrolyte systems; fundamental problems of improving traditional electrochemical systems; scientific foundations of modern technologies for the production of chemical current sources and others.

Since 2007, the Electrochemical Energy journal has been included in the list of peer-reviewed scientific publications of the Higher Attestation Commission. In addition, in addition to DOAJ, the publication is registered in such databases and search engines as eLibrary (RSCI), Cyberleninka, Applied Science & Technology Source Ultimate, IVIS and ULRICH'S Periodical Directory.
