On May 30, an awarding ceremony for the winners of the Spartakiade for the 2023 Rector Cup took place at the SSU sports ground. The competitions were held among the university institutes and faculties from February to May.

Keen on sports, students tested their abilities in the following sports: swimming, darts, table tennis, chess, all-around RLD, badminton, mini football, streetball (men/women), 3x3 basketball, volleyball (men/women), and athletics.

Cups and sets of medals were presented to the winners by Director of the Institute of Sports and Physical Training Irina Vodolagina and Head of the Sports Club Vladimir Gordeyev.

Vasilii Pozdnyakov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the Institute of Sports and Physical Training, SSU, summed up the results of the last Spartakiade. ‘This is first of all a holiday! These are useful competitions for children, participation in which gives positive emotions. Football and men's volleyball matches were very interesting, a serious struggle unfolded in different sports. The guys trained well, so they showed good skills and good results. Next year we plan to add cross-country skiing, which will be held in February, so that weather conditions do not affect the competition.’
