On April 8, there took place 20th All-Russian project entitled Total Dictation.
Within the walls of SSU, the literacy test campaign is held for the tenth anniversary time. There were 7 sites at the university, where more than 250 Saratov residents wrote dictation.
Active citizens, teachers and students came to check their knowledge of the Russian language. Rector Aleksei Chumachenko participates in the campaign every year. In the 208 auditorium of the XI building of Saratov University, together with him, Director of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Lyudmila Borisova and Director of the Institute of History and International Relations Tatyana Cherevichko came to write a dictation.
The participants of the action were met by volunteers of the SSU Council of Undergraduates and Postgraduates. They helped numerous participants to register and find the right audience.
The dictation was read by university teachers: head of priority projects and programs of SSU Elena Yelina, SSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Igor Malinskii, Professor of the Department of Literary Studies and Journalism Kirill Zakharov.
Guests of the SSU also acted as dictators, including the correspondent of the Saratov State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company Aleksei Karev, the chairman of the city council of the Movement of the First Tatyana Bogdanova, the head of the Department of Acting Skills of the Saratov Theater Institute, the leading actress of the Saratov Drama Theater Lyubov Bagolei and the director of the Saratov Engineering Lyceum Natalia Sheremetyeva.
This year, the participants of the action wrote the text "Ecology according to Arsenyev. Lesson 3" finalist of the prestigious literary awards Vasily Avchenko. The text was dedicated to Vladimir Arsenyev, a famous traveler and local historian, a researcher of the Far East.
SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko stressed the importance of holding a "Total dictation" within the walls of the university: "Every year I take part in writing a dictation with interest. Such a knowledge test allows us to become more literate. According to my feelings, this year the text was quite complicated. However, for everyone, getting to know the life of the famous geographer Vladimir Arsenyev was interesting and informative. I think that next year the organizers of the dictation will prepare another exciting project for its participants, to which we will all be happy to come again."
Undergraduates with visual impairments of the Faculty of Psychological, Pedagogical, and Special Needs Education were also able to take part in the action. They checked their literacy at the Center for Adaptation and Rehabilitation of Disabled People "Sail of Hope". Typhoid translation of texts written in relief-dotted font was prepared by Associate Professor of the Department of Special Needs Education Lyudmila Myasnikova.
The results will be announced after April 13 on the official website of the project. Russian Russian is checked by an expert commission of philologists, which includes teachers and students of Saratov University under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of the Russian Language, Speech Communication, and Russian as a Foreign Language Olga Neznayeva.
Awarding of excellent students will take place on April 22 at 11:00 in the 503 auditorium of the X building of SSU. On this day, everyone will be able to pick up their verified works.
The annual educational event has been held since 2004 around the world to promote literacy.
