Special Issue of Saratov University Newspaper Timed to Year of Teachers and Mentors

As part of the Year of Teachers and Mentors, a special issue of the Saratov University newspaper has been released. The new issue on 12 pages is dedicated to pedagogical education at SSU – the only university in the region that trains teachers.

At the first page of the special issue, Rector of Saratov State University Aleksei Chumachenko addressed the readers. ‘It is SSU that trains school teachers, it is to us that young specialists come to improve their qualifications, to study for master's degrees. Realising our special mission in this sphere, we comprehensively develop the idea of continuous pedagogical education, considering it a successful model for other universities of the country,’ he noted.

On pages 6-7, Deputy Prime Minister of Saratov Region – Minister of Education of Saratov Region Mikhail Orlov expressed his opinion about the partnership with Saratov State University. In his interview, he commented on the teacher training system at SSU, professional motivation, career prospects, and the social status of young teachers.

On page 2, Head of Priority Projects and Programmes, Professor Elena Yelina pointed out the Week of Pedagogical Education festival and its “subsidiary” projects which were included into the Teachers in the Educational Paradigm strategic project as part of the Priority 2030 programme: the University Pedagogical Classroom, the Consilium Support Centre for Young Teachers, and networking for young teachers. There is the photo of young teachers engaged in the Consilium Support Centre for Young Teachers of Saratov Region on the cover of the issue. They shared their opinion about the special mission of teachers on page 7.

Sergei Udalov, Head of the Education Office, SSU, discussed the advantages of pedagogical education at Saratov State University and how it was implemented, as well as new programmes and promising profiles on page 4.

The Pedagogical Classroom is an exciting SSU project for high school students planning to become teachers. You can read the article on the peculiarities of teaching in the Classroom on page 5.

SSU was among the first Russian universities to open corporate departments in schools. Today, there are four departments: at Humanities and Economics Lyceum, Mathematics and Computer Science Lyceum, Physics and Technology Lyceum, and Gymnasium No. 7. The chairs of departments commented on the results of cooperation between the university and schools on pages 8-9.

On page 10, the participants of the Step into the Profession pedagogical skill contest shared their impressions about the experience of working as a teacher, counsellor, and director of the Palace of Creativity.

The material on page 11 is devoted to the aspects of digital etiquette of modern teachers: communication, security, and the image of a teacher.

The issue ends with a QR-guide to SSU pedagogical projects, including the Pedagogical Classroom, the Week of Pedagogical Education research-to-education festival, the Consilium Support Centre for Young Teachers, the School of Counsellors, the Constellation Regional Summer School for Talented Children, the Step into the Profession university competition of professional skills, and the Support Centre for Talented Children.
