Saratov State University has chosen Miss and Mister SSU 2023. They became a student of the Faculty of Psychology, Deputy Head of the regional Headquarters of Student Brigades Margarita Rybakova and a student of the Faculty of Economics, Head of the SSU Headquarters Sergei Kulik.
The annual beauty, talent, and intelligence contest traditionally began with a welcoming speech by Rector of Saratov State University Aleksei Chumachenko. At the stage, he noticed that 2023 was variously eventful. ‘It is important that we see our leaders on this stage this evening. These are brave and ambitious people who want to show themselves and their skills. Creative communication always takes place in this hall, scientific and sports teams are born, and, most importantly, friendship is formed here for many years,’ Aleksei Chumachenko said.
Deputy Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of Saratov Region Angelina Belovitskaya addressed the audience. ‘Today, we are witnessing an amazing and bright event, a real celebration of beauty, grace, sport, intelligence, and most importantly – self-control, as well as the opportunity to show all the best qualities and talents on this stage. Everyone sitting in this hall, I hope you will enjoy this atmosphere, the aura of celebration, and good luck to everyone who is behind the scenes.’
The hosts of the event – the winners of the Miss and Mister SSU 2022 contest Julia Ilyashenko and Nikita Krivosheyev named the jury. This year, they became SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko, Deputy Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of Saratov Region Angelina Belovitskaya, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Igor Malinskii, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton Golovchenko, Head of the Directorate of Regional Holidays, a director Dmitrii Bolshakov, a teacher-choreographer of the ArT-mix modern choreography group Oksana Alimpiyeva, Head of the SSU vocal group Victoria Kovsharova, a holder of the Mrs. Crystal Crown of Russia and Mrs. Saratov Region titles, as well as a choreographer Marina Rein, Mr. Student of Russia Ivan Teplov, as well as Miss SSU 2021 and 2nd Vice-Miss Student of Saratov Region Daria Sheremetyeva. It was they who had to make a difficult choice and determine the favourites of the event.
According to the rules of this year’s competition, during the presentation of their achievements the participants had to name their victories informally – presenting them in everyday, student, or fantasy situations. They were assisted in improvisation by actors of the Paribashte Studio Theatre and participants of the Miss and Mister contest of previous years.
The scenes were interspersed with self-presentations of the participants as well as their performance. They proved themselves in dancing, singing, and public speaking. The audience rejoiced and actively supported their favourites, holding up posters and banners with the names of the contenders for the Miss and Mister SSU 2023 titles.
While the jury was making their decision, the audience enjoyed the songs, singing along to the performers. Arts Director of the SSU Student Club Mikhail Vinogradov conducted original battles between the guests.
While waiting for the jury to announce the names of the winners, the contestants in dazzling outfits appeared on the stage. Traditionally, the winners of special nominations were named first, which were determined by the invited guests of honour. So, Anastasia Buldygina, a student of the Institute of Arts, and Dmitrii Konorov, a student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies, won in the Miss and Mister Friendship nomination. Anna Rudneva, a student of the Faculty of Law and Timofei Dumov, a student of the Institute of Physics, received the Audience award based on the results of voting in the official group of Saratov State University in VKontakte.
One of the criteria for the contestants was sports training, each of the participants showed their best results in Ready for Labour and Defence standards. The best in the Miss and Mister Sport nomination were students of the Institute of Physics Alina Shamarina and Vladislav Li.
Anna Rudneva and a student of the Institute of History and International Relations Gleb Nerozya won in the Miss and Mister Creativity nomination. Elizaveta Tyabina, a student of the Faculty of Biology, became the owner of the Miss Student Club title, and Mikhail Makhortov, a student of the Institute of Physics, – the Mr. Student Club title.
Anna Rudneva and Vladislav Li were the most intelligent, they won in the Miss and Mister Intelligence nomination. Alina Shamarina and Andrei Michurin won the Miss and Mister TV special nomination. They received an invitation to undergo an internship at the Saratov State TV and Radio Company.
When the time came for the announcement of the three best ones, the atmosphere in the hall became tense, the voices of the audience were heard more and more often. Some of them turned on smartphones, on which a running line with the names of the winners was broadcast. According to the results of the contest, Anastasia Udintsova, a student of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, became 2nd Vice-Miss, and Vladislav Li became 2nd Vice-Mister. The title of 1st Vice-Miss SSU was awarded to Alina Shamarina, and Dmitrii Konorov became the 1st Vice-Mister SSU.
Finally, the jury announced the winners of the Miss and Mister SSU 2023 contest – Margarita Rybakova and Sergei Kulik. After that, the elated audience took to the stage to congratulate the favourites of this evening in the light of spotlights and flying confetti and take memorable photos.
Miss and Mister SSU 2023 will represent the university at the regional competition.
