On Russian Students’ Day, January 25, a festive programme was held in the Factory sports and recreation complex, organized by the Rectors’ Union of Saratov Region and the regional Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports.

The winter holiday gave young people the opportunity to skate, enjoy the performances, take pictures with friends at the background of a colourful photo zone, and drink hot tea with cookies and sweets. The celebration united students of all Saratov universities.

The regional Minister of Youth Policy and Sports Oleg Dubovenko congratulated the students on the holiday, noting their achievements. ‘Students glorify Saratov Region. You have clearly shown yourself in creativity – we have been winning the Grand Prix at the Russian Student Spring contest for three years in a row, and, of course, we dream of holding the finals of this grand festival in Saratov. Our students are among the best in Russia for participating in Rosmolodezh forums and campaigns. Every year, the best of you win grants and bring millions of rubles to the region for various social projects. Students form the core of the volunteer movement of Saratov Region. The holidays are ahead of you – this is a good opportunity to relax and gain strength for future achievements.’

Oleg Dubovenko awarded activists of university youth. A letter of appreciation from the regional Governor for active public work and personal contribution to the implementation of youth policy in the region was awarded to the Head of the SSU Council of Undergraduates and Postgraduates, an undergraduate of the Faculty of Sociology Vladislav Bykov.

The Chair of the Rectors’ Union of the region, SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko believes that the holiday will help Saratov students to unite to implement joint projects. ‘Students are the pride of every university. Most of the achievements of any university depend on promising initiatives of young people and their ultimate success. I hope that here you will have friends with whom you will spend a lot of time. Only together we will be able to achieve high results, and, on this day, you have a great opportunity to get to know each other, then to implement projects that will glorify our region.’

The creative students gave the audience an unforgettable experience of the holiday. A stormy ovation was caused by the performance of Alexander Vaitsul, a student of the Faculty of Sociology, SSU, who performed the Challenge song. The singing was accompanied by a procession of students with flags of the country, region, and all Saratov universities. The audience especially remembered the demonstration performances on the ice of the pupils of the regional sports school of Olympic reserve entitled The Hope of the Region. A bright part of the event was the performance of the vocal group of SSU – We Are a Team. This soulful song united all the participants of the holiday even more.

Tatiana's Day ended with a mass skating, which was accompanied by dynamic music.
