Dear colleagues, staff members, and students!
Today, on December 19, we are celebrating the birthday of our university. 113 years ago, the emperor gave his name to a new educational institution in Saratov and the last emperor university of Russia.
For several decades, many representatives of the Russian intelligentsia lived in the hope of the emergence of a university in one of the largest cities of Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. One of the first to talk about it was Nicholas Chernyshevsky, whose name our university bears. The outstanding statesman Peter Stolypin, whose 160th anniversary was widely celebrated this year, played a huge role in the implementation of this plan.
Today, Saratov University is a worthy combination of traditions and innovations in the field of classical education. We can rightfully be proud of the pages of the history of our university, the names of those who stood at the origins of its creation, and those who now ensure its authority and systematic development.
The University is rapidly moving forward, responding to the challenges of the time and the demands of its region. This process does not go unnoticed. One of the results was participation in the Priority 2030 federal university support programme. The project involves leading specialists in the field of personalized medicine, electronics, digitalisation, development of promising nanomaterials, continuous training of teaching staff. A close-knit team of like-minded people is working to make our university better and more visible every day at the national and international level, so that they would like to work, study and do science in it.
I congratulate all the staff, teachers, students, and postgraduates on this wonderful day and thank everyone for their productive, selfless work.
