In a winter December evening, a gala concert of the Student Spring was held on the stage of the Assembly Hall, Bldg. X. It collected the most memorable and vivid numbers of creative programmes of the university faculties and the institutes.

The evening was opened by participants of the Paribashte Theatre Victoria Frolova and Daria Samolova with a bright clowning. The pantomime was replaced by the popular song – Wake Up! – by Zivert performed by the SSU singing group and JS Crew, after which the audience was greeted by Arts Director of the Student Club Mikhail Vinogradov.

He recalled that in 2022 the Student Spring was divided into two stages: programmes and directions. The last one will be held in the spring and will be a selection for the Saratov Student Spring. He also noted that this year all faculties and institutes of the university are taking part in the gala concert.

Meanwhile, on the stage, the creative "party" of the university – Nikita Krivosheyev, Vladislav Kovalenko, Polina Andryushchenko, Kirill Nazarov, and Dmitrii Ivashkin and together with them the teacher Aleksei Vasilchikov, who strives to keep up with the trends of youth and tries to understand modern student slang, gets into a strange and funny New Year's story.

According to the scenario, students' plans are gradually disrupted. The fact is that the rented house turns out to be mystical. Inside, the heroes are unexpectedly met by a singing and a dancing group of the Faculty of Law, Ladies Law. The surprises do not end there: the dance of snowflakes performed by the staff of the Faculty of Psychology, QueenStep, becomes similar to the dance of patients of a psychiatric hospital, then DJs from the Institute of Arts perform the syncopation of the Berry-Raspberry song.

After a conversation with the owner of the house, the students are convinced that something mystical is happening here, and try to solve the mystery. Here their thoughts are interrupted by the dance of the dancing group of the Institute of Arts, Lumos Maxima, and the songs of mermaids performed by the singing group of the Institute of Philology and Journalism.

Characters in creepy images replace each other on stage. Svetlana Telyatnikova, a student of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, presented the Jenny of Oldstones song, and Dmitrii Ivashkin, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, performing the song with a guitar, realized that he had finally fallen in love. Artyom Flyagin (the Institute of Sports and Physical Training) and Karina Utaliyeva (the Institute of Philology and Journalism) performed a ballroom dance to the The Girl and the Sea song, after which the dance team of the Institute of Physics performed.

All this fun is interrupted by a sudden company of the Faculty of Law with ditties from student Damir Nizamov and the Look at Them dancing group.

Forest animals play musical instruments, Mikhail Makhortov, a student of the Institute of Physics, sings with them about Santa Claus, Ekaterina Kladko, a student of the Institute of Arts, performs the Eight song by Lilu45, and meanwhile other characters Vladislav and Nikita with a loaf in their hands call everyone to the street to launch fireworks. The villains opposing them rejoice that the uninvited guests leave their gloomy house, but they understand that it will not last long.

The concert ends with a vocal item by Alexander Vaitsul, a student of the Faculty of Sociology, Snow Yourself with the Look at Them group, after which the hall explodes with loud applause and prepares for the most interesting thing – awarding the best programs. The director of the Student Club Mark Pinkhasik enters the stage.

He noted the peculiarities of the season. ‘For the first time, new teams have appeared at the faculties in the Student Schools, we have never seen such a massive scale. The division of the competition into two stages still makes sense: about 150 people gathered on the stage today. A total of 14 programs have been prepared, including the combined ones. And we are ready to announce the results.’

The awarding ceremony began with acting groups – this year the organisers decided not to single out actresses and actors individually. The acting groups of the Twofold programme (the Faculty of Economics, the Institute of Sports and Physical Training, and the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine and Medical Technologies), the Eve programme (the Institute of Physics), and the On the Other Side programme (the Institute of Philology and Journalism and the Institute of History and International Relations) were noted.

The Best Team-Work special prize was awarded to the Faculty of Psychology, and Best Idea was awarded to the artists of the Institute of Chemistry and the Faculty of Biology.

The prizes-winners are:

3rd place – the To Myself Aloud combined programme of the Faculty of Sociology and the Faculty of Pedagogical and Special Needs Education; the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Language Teaching Methods with the Forward to the Past programme; the Faculty of Psychology with the The First Bell programme.

2nd place – the Faculty of Law with the Yes programme; the Twofold joint programme of the Institute of Sports and Physical Training, the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine and Medical Technologies, and the Faculty of Economics.

1st place – the Institute of Physics with the Eve programme; the On the Other Side joint programme of the Institute of Philology and Journalism and the Institute of History and International Relations.

‘The gala concert of the Student Spring was a great success! Beautiful numbers together with a well-thought-out scenario give their result. Since this Student Spring was held in December, we managed to plunge into the atmosphere of the New Year holidays, we even had our own Santa Claus! Where else will you see this? Everything worked as a single organism, thanks to everyone who put their efforts into this creation. Costumer, make–up artists, sound engineers, media group, screenwriters, artists, directors – all well done!’ Kirill Nazarov, a student of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies, who played the role of one of the students gathered for the holiday, shared his impressions.

And now all the participants of the Student Spring have united on the stage to the Comets song by Dragni. The hall lit lanterns and froze in anticipation of the coming miracle.

‘This is how the winter Student Spring turned out for us,’ Mark Pinkhasik added at the end. He congratulated everyone on the upcoming New Year and wished good luck at the winter session.
