On December 2, on the eve of the Day of the Unknown Soldier, the Test on the Great Patriotic War international project took place in Russia. The event was held within the Big Story project, which is implemented by the Youth Parliament under the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

At SSU, the participants of the project gathered in the Big Physical Hall, Bldg. III. They were welcomed by Rector of Saratov University Aleksei Chumachenko. He thanked the organisers of the event and noted that today knowledge of historical facts is of great importance.

‘If we leave our history, we start to forget it, we start to rewrite it to please someone - we lose our country. So it was in the late 80s - early 90s. Now the situation is similar. They are trying to impose values alien to us, new "heroes", to erase the history of our ancestors from our memory. But now we have a different attitude to this situation. And, most importantly, our young colleagues, students understand and feel the need to remain faithful to the history of their country, the history of our ancestors,’ the rector said.

The event was attended by Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational work Anton Golovchenko, Director of the Institute of History and International Relations Tatyana Cherevichko, a deputy of the Saratov Regional Duma Julia Litnevskaya, Chair of the Youth Parliament at the Saratov Regional Duma, the leader of the Cossack youth of Saratov Region Sergei Shatalin, university staff and students, and residents of Saratov. In total, more than 100 people came to write a history test.

The organisers of the Test on the Great Patriotic War gave the participants of the action a welcome video message from Moscow.

The test questions included two levels of difficulty: basic and profile, which is provided for students of history. In total, the participants answered 40 questions with 4 possible answers. 40 minutes were given to solve the tasks. After the end of the promotion, all participants received certificates.

The test was developed with the participation of a group of scientists from the Military University of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and Moscow State Regional University to preserve and maintain historical literacy about the Great Patriotic War. The test on the history of the Great Patriotic War is the largest action in the country. In total, more than two million people have joined it this year. The project sites worked in all regions of Russia and abroad.
