The Russian Professors Assembly All-Russian public organisation gave Sergei Shtykov, Professor of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Ecology, Saratov University, the 2022 Professor of the Year in the Chemistry nomination.

The awarding ceremony took place on November 22 in the Big Conference Hall of the Moscow Government at the 5th Professor Forum titled The Science, Education, and Global Challenges. The award was presented by State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Pyotr Kucherenko and Chair of the Russian Professors Assembly, Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Professor Vladislav Grib.

In total, 73 professors from all over the country have received the national award of the Russian Professors Assembly in 2022.

‘The event is very honourable, it was held by well-known people in our country. Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valerii Falkov took part in it. The organisation of the forum and the plenary session was at a high level, it was felt that the attitude to the professorship of our country was changing. I am proud that I was among those four scientists who received the Professor of the Year title in the Chemistry nomination. I believe that this award is a recognition of the high level of our university, of which I have had the honour to be an employee for more than 50 years. It belongs to our rector's office, which organises the coordinated work of all university services, my professors, my colleagues, my postgraduates, as well as undergraduates who join our research group and create a continuous chain of transferring experience and knowledge in and science in the country,’ Sergei Shtykov shared his impressions.

Sergei Shtykov has been working as a professor at the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Ecology since 1991. He is the author of the Nanoanalytics concept as part of analytical chemistry, developing principles and methods used to analyse nanoobjects and nanotechnology. he is one of the leading scientists in analytical, physical, colloidal, and supramolecular chemistry of organised media.

The results of his research have been published in reputable journals, including more than 200 articles in the journals of the Higher Attestation Commission. Under his leadership, 8 doctoral and 20 candidate dissertations have been successfully presented over the past 20 years. Currently, Sergei Shtykov is supervising the writing of another PhD thesis.
