On National Unity Day, festive events were held in Saratov, which were attended by members of the Headquarters of Student Brigades and activists of the SSU Council of Undergraduates and Postgraduates.

The events, concerts, and projects, where participated students of Saratov University, took place on November 4. The Headquarters of the SSU Student Brigades gave Russian flags to residents of the city on the central streets of Saratov. In addition, together with Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Organisational Work Anton Golovchenko, the students visited the Festival of National Cultures on Fedin Square.

‘It is gratifying to understand that my small homeland – the city of Saratov – is directly related to the establishment of this great holiday. In 2004, there was held an 8,000 rally of youth and representatives of public organisations in support of the reforms carried out by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The rally took place on Theatre Square in Saratov, and it was initiated by the Public Chamber of the region and the Youth Parliament of the region,’ the vice-rector said.

Together with Governor Roman Basargin and residents of Saratov, students unfurled a 60-meter flag of Russia on Volzhskaya Street.

The SSU Council of Undergraduates and Postgraduates joined the celebration and, traditionally, decorated the facade and balconies of Dormitory 1 with a Russian tricolour. And the SSU Student Club launched a creative flash mob on social networks. Students published videos with folk songs and dances in national costumes on the profiles.
