On the eve of National Unity Day, the local government held a meeting which was dedicated to the holiday and where state awards were presented. Head of SSU Priority Projects and Programmes, Professor, Doctor of Philology Elena Yelina was awarded with the title "Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation" for merits in research and pedagogical affairs, training of qualified specialists, and long-term conscientious work. She received the award from the hands of the Governor of Saratov Region Roman Busargin.
Elena Yelina has been working at Saratov University for 48 years. She has supervised 23 Candidates and 1 Doctor of Sciences theses. Her research interests include literature, literary criticism, journalism of the Soviet and post-Soviet times, types and forms of representation of literary self-consciousness, pedagogy, as well as issues of higher education and higher school. For many years, Elena Yelina has been a member of the Council of the Academic and Methodological Association on linguistics and literary studies, and a developer of the higher school's Federal State Educational Standards. She devoted her whole life to the development of her alma mater: she worked as a deputy dean of the Faculty of Philology, was a vice-rector for academic affairs, and is currently Head of Priority Projects and Programmes of the university.
She develops many projects and heads a unique strategic project titled Teachers in the Educational Paradigm of the Priority 2030 university programme. The Week of Pedagogical Education, Pedagogical Classroom, the Consilium Centre for Young Teachers Support, the Research-to-Methodology Council for Pedagogical Education are only part of the projects implemented under her leadership. Elena Yelina oversees the work of the Office Media Communications, the Film Studio, and the SSU Office of Priority Projects and Programmes.
She is a sensitive and attentive person who devotes herself to work, science and teaching. The staff of Saratov University congratulates Elena Yelina on her well-deserved title and wishes her new achievements and victories!
