The #WEARETOGETHER volunteer headquarters has been working at Saratov University. One of its new priorities will be assistance to military personnel and mobilised citizens, as well as their families. The headquarters will provide targeted assistance to relatives of the servicemen, provide psychological and legal advice to citizen, etc. In addition, the volunteers will help those who feel anxious.

SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko noted the important role played by students in the headquarters. ‘Our volunteers are always ready to help. I am very glad that students of Saratov University are actively participating in such an important project. Even in the most difficult moment, the #WEARETOGETHER headquarters is ready to work. Its continuous activity reveals the high patriotic spirit of students. From the very beginning, the headquarters has been actively helping the society: the SSU activists and volunteers have supported people during the coronavirus pandemic and helped residents of the People's Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. And now we are not staying away.’

Deputy Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of Saratov Region Angelina Belovitskaya commented why the headquarters was so important. ‘By participating in this large-scale volunteer project, students not only show their civic position, but also help their compatriots. I believe that students who organize support for all those in need serve as an example for the citizens of our country.’

To remind, in May 2022, a new direction was launched – #WEARETOGETHER with Donbass, where the authorities, businessmen, and caring citizens united.

‘The # WEARETOGETHER headquarters has been providing assistance to the residents of the region for several years. We empathize with people who have found themselves in a trouble. You cannot stay away. Mutual assistance is the basis of humanity. Due to the headquarters scaling up, we will be able to help servicemen, the mobilised, and their families,’ said Julia Kravchuk, an employee of the SSU Humanitarian Aid Headquarters.

Artem Smalyuga, an undergraduate at the Institute of Physics, contributed to the collection of humanitarian aid. ‘I brought a package with necessities for mobilised citizens and families in need. I believe that in our time it is absolutely necessary to help each other and hold together.’

It should be noted that the main task of the centre is to consolidate efforts and support all citizens in need. 153 #MYVMESTE humanitarian aid centres have been opened at universities, which are represented in 8 Russian federal districts and 58 regions. More than 40 thousand students are involved in their ongoing activities, of which about 32 thousand people have visited temporary accommodation facilities. The total volume of collected humanitarian aid is more than 234 tons.
