From August 23 to 26, the delegation of Saratov University will take part in the 7th All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum titled The Science of the Future – the Science of the Young. The event will be held at Novosibirsk State Technical University and will be timed to coincide with the 9th Technoprom International Forum of Technological Development.

One of the central events of the forum will be the finals of the 7th All-Russian Contest of Research Papers, where undergraduates and postgraduates from various regions of Russia will present their works for the authoritative research jury.

This year, more than 2,500 people have applied for the competition, of which 345 undergraduates and postgraduates have reached the finals. Three young scientists will present Saratov University at the forum.

Anastasia Koshel, an SSU postgraduate, will deliver a report titled The study of the temperature and radiation regime in the equatorial Pacific Ocean during the El Niño events using satellite observations in the Earth Science, Ecology, and Environmental Management section.

In the same section, Yakov Neishtadt, a master’s degree student of the Faculty of Geography, will present the report titled The climatic potential for the development of solar energy in the Lower Volga Region. The scientific supervisor of the two speakers is the Chair of the Department of Meteorology and Climatology Maksim Chervyakov.

Nikita Koronevskii, Assistant of the Department of Solid Body Physics, will deliver his report titled The development and optimisation of technology for creating a magnetically controlled composite material based on polycaprolactone fibres and calcium carbonate microparticles. The research is supervised by Associate Professor of the Department of Solid Body Physics Sergei Sergeyev.

The main goal of the forum is to educate a new generation of Russian researchers by making young people interested in science, technology, and innovation. The programme of the forum is based on 10 scientific tracks. During the event, its members are to participate in an intensive business programme – more than 30 strategic sessions and panel discussions dedicated to the development of Russian science. In addition, it is planned to hold excursions to scientific laboratories, meetings with representatives of scientific foundations, discussion of career paths, as well as sports and cultural programmes.

SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko commented on the participation of the Saratov University delegation at the forum in the Universities.RF Telegram channel. ‘This is a unique event both for young scientists and for Russian science as a whole. At all times, science is the main guiding force of progress, the most important component of national wealth, a powerful resource for the development of the country. And young researchers are the elite of society and the most important asset of the state. The participation of our young colleagues in The Science of the Future – the Science of the Young scientific forum, where the members of scientific community will communicate during strategic sessions and panel discussions, will allow ambitious young people not only to show themselves, but also to promote the integration of science.

The interdisciplinary and intergenerational dialogue will be held in ten scientific areas on a very wide range of issues, which, in my opinion, is an indicator of the successful involvement of young people into science. The contribution of the young generation of Saratov University to the scientific life of the entire university team is significant. And the results of their activities are important for the region and for the whole country.

SSU still holds high positions in a variety of prestigious rankings, and it serves as an important indicator of the intensive scientific and educational life of SSU. This is especially true of the scientific component of our activities. The number of publications of our researchers is steadily growing. Our scientists receive high awards and titles, students win scholarship programmes and competitions. On the basis of university laboratories, world-class research is carried out in medicine, nanotechnology, computer modelling and the development of new materials, the development of information systems and much more, where most of the participants are young scientists working together with experienced mentors. We have done a lot at our university so that young colleagues will be able to actively participate in research, learning from world-famous university scientists.

We are proud of our undergraduates and postgraduates who are so successfully involved in the research of the university. We hope that they will demonstrate their achievements, expand the scope of their interests, and most importantly – find your vocation!’
