For the merits in the development of physical culture and long service, the Chair of the Department of Sports Disciplines of the Institute of Sports and Physical Training, SSU, Victor Mishagin received the title of Honoured Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation. The decree was signed on April 18 by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Victor Mishagin is a graduate of Saratov State Pedagogical Institute has been training physical education teachers for 40 years and is a member of the executive committee of the Ski Racing Federation of Saratov Region. He has written more than 100 research articles, under his supervision famous athletes, world-class biathletes Alexander Loginov, Nikita Porshnev defended their master's theses.

The work of the department chaired by Victor Mishagin is aimed at the development of skiing, athletics, biathlon, and other cyclic sports. ‘The university cross-country skiing team annually takes the lead at the regional Spartakiad, our athletes show good results in athletics tournaments. This honourary award is a great achievement and recognition of the merits of all instructors, pedagogues, and those who are responsible for popularising the sports movement among young people at the university,’ the chair of the department commented on receiving the presidential award.
