Humanities Researchers Gathered at International Conference in SSU

On April 14, SSU hosted the X International Scientific Conference titled The Humanities in the New Reality: Issues, Approaches, Values dedicated to the issues, approaches, and values ​​of the humanities in the new reality. The opening ceremony took place in the Assembly Hall of Bldg. X.

The organising committee of the conference, traditionally, included the Rector of Saratov University Aleksei Chumachenko, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Igor Malinskii, the Vice-Rector for Research and Digital Development Aleksei Koronovskii, the Head of Priority Projects and Programmes Elena Yelina as well as the directors, deans, and chairs of all humanitarian structural divisions of the university.

The Director of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Lyudmila Borisova and the Chair of the Department of Literary Criticism and Journalism Valerii Prozorov opened the conference as organisers and wished the speakers and listeners success and interesting, meaningful reports.

Vice-Rector Aleksei Koronovskii, welcoming the participants of the conference, noted, ‘Each time I am amazed at the versatility and depth of topics of the reports presented at this conference. SSU has the widest range of research and courses. The university holds about two hundred different conferences per year. But this event is a bright scientific event, the face and, unequivocally, the hallmark of our university.’

At the plenary session, Natalia Averyanova presented the report titled The Constitutional Axiology of the Rights of Peoples Living in the Russian Federation, Andrei GladyshevThe Epidemiological Turn in The Humanities as An Undeclared Reality, Irina ZamchalovaThe Issues and Prospects for The Development of Humanities: An Innovative and Value Approach.

Elena Yelina delivered her report titled The SSU Virtual Pedagogical Course as An Object of Modern Humanities, co-authored with Rail Shamionov. She said that we had an opportunity to develop the Virtual Pedagogical Course due to the victory in the contest under the Priority 2030 federal programme. More than 150 schoolchildren from Saratov and Saratov Region are regular students of the Class.

Svetlana Kuzmina spoke about the prospects for the development of arts education in the new reality, Olga Munina focused on liminality as a factor of protest activity.

Speaking about the changes management – from chaos to the order Nadezhda Manokhina showed paintings by artists who at one time had different ideas about chaos as well as slides with the statements of philosophers. Marina Ragulina commented on an innovative approach to teaching applied physical education. Anna Smirnova concluded the series of presentations with the report titled Experiencing the Threat of Job Loss and Personality Resources to Overcome It in A Changing Society.

The Director of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Lyudmila Borisova thanked the speakers and the listeners – teaching staff members from different educational departments of SSU and students. She noted that the meeting made it possible to see various aspects of the humanities, which are actively developing at the university.

The conference continued in 14 sections in other educational buildings of Saratov University. Its members discussed such topics as Preserving The Values ​​of Arts Education in The Modern Digital World, The Issues of Modern Linguistics, The Linguistics and Teaching Language Methods in The Digital Age: Approaches, Innovations, Prospects, The Psychological Issus of the Digital Society: Opportunities, Resources, Challenges, and others.
