Regional Minister of Education Mikhail Orlov met with Pedagogical Course Members
On February 17, a meeting was held between the members of the SSU virtual pedagogical course and the Minister of Education of Saratov Region Mikhail Orlov.
The opening speech was delivered by the project curator, the Head of Priority Projects and Programmes Elena Yelina. She announced that all the questions that the schoolchildren wrote to the Telegram channel for the minister were transferred to him. In addition, the students could ask their questions personally to the minister during the event.
‘Today is a really important day for me, I will finally see the virtual classroom that I have heard so much about. It was a great idea of Saratov University to create such a course. When I found out about it, I immediately wanted to meet and talk with you. It is interesting to me, because your questions, which I have already seen, show that you are young people who think, who are interested in the future of the country. And I am interested in your reaction to what I will say today,’ Mikhail Orlov began communicating with the schoolchildren.
Both the students of the virtual pedagogical course and the teachers themselves asked the minister questions. The questions from the videoconference chat were read out by the deputy curator of the virtual course, a specialist in educational and methodological work of the SSU Centre for Talented Children Support Olga Prozorova.
Mikhail Orlov shared with the schoolchildren his memories of his school time and his teachers and told them the advice he once managed to hear from one of the teachers: ‘The advice that I can give you: life is long, life is cyclic. You can communicate with people in different ways, disagree with them, but never get personal. Maybe you will disagree professionally, but you cannot offend a person personally. This will save you a lot of time, and, believe me, the reputation of a person who has offended no one will be very useful to you in life.’
During the meeting, many issues were discussed related to the choice of a profession, psychological and educational preparation for passing the USE, expected changes at school, separate education for boys and girls, the principle of reducing and increasing state-funded places in universities and colleges in the country, introducing sex education in schools, the Russian classical school and student-teacher relations.
During the meeting, the schoolchildren thanked the Minister of Education of Saratov Region Mikhail Orlova in the conference chat for answers to their questions and also actively participated in the mixed conversation. The minister agreed to answer questions that students may have after the meeting.
To remind, on February 26, two consultations on the Unified State Examinations will be held for the participants of the virtual pedagogical course, and on March 2, the next programme lesson will be held.
