The SGUshchyonka magazine celebrates its 10th birthday. In honour of the anniversary, a festive lecture hall is being held in the social networks of the editorial office, intended for everyone who wants to learn the basics of journalism. The invited experts are graduates of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, who in different years contributed to establishing the student magazine.

So, for example, the former authors of SGUshchyonka, and today employees of the Presidential Grants Fund Polina Novomlinova and Elizaveta Pirogova, in video presentations are telling the subscribers how to correctly use media promotion tools in order to encourage the audience not only to passive reading but also to active participation in socially significant projects.

The ex-editors of the magazine group in social networks, in turn, share the secrets of creating high-quality information materials. For example, a World Club journalist Sofia Sokolova explains how to write a text ideally suited for publication in print media, and Anastasia Evdokimova, a producer of the Saratov State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, demonstrates examples of successful video clips directing.

The SGUshchyonka readers can see the lecture notes both on the official pages of the editorial office in VKontakte and Instagram and on the YouTube channel of Saratov University. In addition to the lecture hall, the subscribers of social networks are expected to receive gifts from the magazine partners.

To remind, the first issue of the student magazine was published in the autumn of 2011. Larisa Suvorova (Yefremycheva), a graduate of the Institute of Philology and Journalism, SSU, became its editor-in-chief. She stayed in her post for 5 long years, and in 2016 the editorial board consisted of senior students of the Institute of Philology and Journalism Elena Krivitskaya and Alexandra Dyakova, who replaced each other in the positions of chief and executive editors until 2019. The next editor-in-chief was Alexandra Golovachyova. She supervised the work of the magazine until October, 2021. It is symbolic that exactly 10 years after the release of the first issue, everything returned to where it began: the magazine production is again supervised by Larisa Suvorova.

It is also important to note that over the course of all ten years, the students have been taking part in the magazine production on an equal basis with professional journalists – regardless of the profile of their studies. In total, during its existence, the editorial board of the magazine has published 38 printed issues, created an account on social networks with more than 7 thousand subscribers today, become a prize-winner of more than a hundred competitions and won a grant for the implementation of the City of Three Fishes media project. In addition, the SGUshchyonka has repeatedly become the winner of all-Russian and international competitions and festivals of journalism, such as the UniverCity, the TIME CODE, the Eventiada, the Science Media, the Crystal Arrow, the Challenge: XXI Century, and the Media Planet.

The team of the magazine pays great attention not only to the additional educational opportunities but also to forming the atmosphere of creative unity, the acquaintance of freshmen with the university and with each other. The SGUshchyonka is a magazine created by students for students. Thus, the attention should be paid to a wide range of topics and genres that distinguish the publication. In addition to the main blocks devoted to science, creativity, sports, volunteering and primarily telling about the achievements of SSU students and professors in the above mentioned areas, the magazine contains sections on fashion, art, culture, lifestyle, ecology, psychology, starting opportunities in professional industries, unusual hobbies, and travelling.
