Enrollees and their parents are invited to Open Day of the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine and Medical Technologies, Saratov University. It will be held at the conference hall in Bldg. X on May 20 (83, Astrakhanskaya Str.).
The guests of the meeting will find about the new faculty and its course, curriculums, the conditions for admission and training, the number of state-funded places, and the possibility of studying on the fee-paying basis. Visitors to the open day will be told about scholarships and social benefits for students, directions and formats of student life at SSU. The moderators of the meeting will answer the questions of those present.
The faculty is preparing three new courses for the first enrollees. They will be in medical biophysics (qualification – biophysicist) – state-funded places; medical cybernetics (qualification – doctor-cyberneticist) – state-funded places; medical biochemistry (qualification - doctor-biochemist) – on the tuition fee basis.
Medical biophysics is the course on the border of medicine, biology and physics. It is aimed at training personnel in the development, implementation, and use of innovative medical equipment, including diagnostic equipment, in research and development of new diagnostic and treatment technologies.
Medical biochemistry is the course that combines knowledge in medicine, biology, and chemistry. It is associated with such scientific fields as bacteriology, virology, immunology, and genetics. There the students will learn about the possibilities and new methods of laboratory clinical diagnostics based on biochemical analysis and carry out genetic and immunological studies.
Medical cybernetics is the course associated with the use of computer technologies in medicine, medical research, diagnostics using the latest equipment, and the development and implementation of information technologies and systems.
The students of these courses will gain practical skills and knowledge in such spheres as the physical and chemical foundations of life, mathematical and informational methods in biology and medicine, morphology, general and medical biophysics and biochemistry, the basics of clinical laboratory and functional diagnostics, and biomedical technologies.
Regardless of the chosen course, the students will undergo primary training in clinical disciplines, including surgery, immunology, infectious and internal diseases, and pediatrics. In addition, all the courses involve mastering a foreign language course at a high level, without which it is impossible to imagine a modern medical scientist.
The research of students will be organized on the basis of scientific and educational laboratories of the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine and Medical Technologies and the university-wide laboratories working in medicine and biomedical technologies.
The practical training of students, including in clinical disciplines, will be carried out on the basis of the city medical organisations and research institutes. Among them are the Regional Clinical Oncological Dispensary, the Regional Clinical Combustiology Centre, the Microbe Institute, as well as Saratov State Medical University and its clinics.
The faculty graduates will be able to get a job in medical organisations, research institutes and laboratories, including clinics and universities, in pharmaceutical organisations, factories, and large companies associated with the development and implementation of the latest medical equipment. Given that, in addition to the research part, the curriculum contains modules related to clinical direction, diagnostics, and medical technology; the graduates can also undergo special certification to obtain the right to be employed as diagnostic doctors, for example, doctors of functional or clinical laboratory diagnostics.
All the faculty courses last for six years.
Admission of applicants will be carried out on a competitive basis for school graduates based on the USE results and for college graduates based on the results of the internal exams: for the course in medical biochemistry – biology/mathematics (profile level), chemistry, Russian; for the course in medical biophysics – mathematics (profile level)/biology, physics, Russian; for the course in medical Cybernetics – physics/biology, mathematics (profile level), Russian.
