There have been announced the results of the All-Russian Student Organisation Competition initiated by the Russian Youth Union with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The SSU Undergraduate and Graduate Student Council was included in the top three in the Best United Student Council of an Education Organization of Higher Education nomination.

In addition to the SSU activists, the list of the best included the representatives of the joint student councils of Tyumen State University, Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov, and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.

According to the participants, the competition was held in two stages. For the off-site round they had to fill in an application containing the basic information about the student association and the university. The contestants were required to provide the information on partnership programmes and cooperation with other organisations, demonstrate the design of social networks, and draw up a detailed description of the council activities giving a list of the achievements over the past year.

The final tests included several large tasks at once: the students had to prepare a Presentation of Best Practices, solve the Social Hackathon case, and write an essay on the following topic – the 2035 Student Associations.

Dennis Yashin, Head of the SSU Undergraduate and Graduate Student Council, commented on the competition results of the Saratov University team.

‘I think we have managed to achieve high marks from the jury primarily due to the fact that we paid special attention to the visual part of the competition materials. It really helped us stand out from the rest of the participants. It was important for us to show that all the work of the Council was not only succinct and meaningful, but also bright and memorable. Also, I would like to note that we are the only contestants who deeply thought the design of the location from which the videos were broadcast. Our main ‘weapon’ in the competition was a creative approach in performing creative tasks. We demonstrated it both when we filled in the social networks and wrote an essay in which we presented what student agitation could be in 2035.’
