Speech Genres Journal Included into ERIH PLUS

Published by Saratov University the Speech Genres Journal has been included into the European Reference Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS), a system of the European Citation Index for the Humanities. You can find the profile of the journal in the database here.

Editor-in-chief of the Speech Genres Journal is Professor of the SSU Department of Language Theory and History and Applied Linguistics Vadim Dementyev. The editorial board includes Head of the Center for Sociolinguistics of the Institute of Linguistics, the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Alpatov; Professor of the SSU Department of Literary Studies and Journalism Elena Yelina; Professor of the Department of Linguistics, the University of California, Berkeley, Robin Lakoff; Professor of the Department of Slavic and Baltic Studies, University of Helsinki Arto Mustajoki; Chair of the SSU Department of Literary Studies and Journalism Valerii Prozorov; Professor of the Department of Russian Language and Speech Communication Olga Sirotinina; Director of the Russian Language Institute, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Professor Huang Mei; and many other representatives of Australian, Austrian, Belorussian, Israeli, Kazakh, Lithuanian, Russian, and Ukrainian universities.

The Speech Genres Journal has been published since 2013, and it is actively developing. It was created on the basis of the research paper collection with the same name published since 1997, which has become popular in Russia and abroad. In January 2020, the journal entered the international DOAJ database and in April 2020 – the RSCI.

The European Reference Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS) was created and developed by European researchers under the coordination of the Standing Committee for the Humanities (SCH) of the European Science Foundation (ESF). And now it is the biggest world citation index. ERIH PLUS is maintained and operated by the NSD – Norwegian Centre for Research Data. It is important that ERIH PLUS is an exclusively social sciences and humanities resource, while most of the big electronic resources are focused on the STEM and natural sciences.

The ERIH PLUS database contains journals in English as well as in all major European languages. A group of experts in the humanities choose them for ERIH PLUS, and the journals included into the database must meet strict requirements for research publications, as well as have a wide geography both in terms of the editorial board and authors. Due to the inclusion into the ERIH PLUS database researchers from all over the world get acquainted with the new journal, and the citation index of the journal's authors increases as in researchers from different countries start citing them. Last year, 1,500 humanities journals from this database were included in the Scopus index.
