This year graduates of Saratov University are very lucky because despite the fact that the world is overwhelmed by the coronavirus pandemic they have managed to celebrate the most long-awaited student holiday, the graduation ceremony, twice. Scheduled for June 27, the main event was held nationwide. On July 2, SSU students met on the Youth Saratov YouTube channel to celebrate it together with fellow students, teachers, and parents.
The broadcast of the prom for SSU students began at 4.00 pm. The university rector Aleksei Chumachenko was the first to address the graduates. He thanked the students that they had thoughtfully been interested in science, volunteered and taken part in student brigades, and participated in various competitions, forums, and festivals held at Saratov University.
‘During your studies you have already shown that you know how to work for the prosperity of our country and understand your responsibility. This was especially evident in the last months of the hard struggle with the coronavirus because you did not only study but also helped each other, your friends, and relatives as well as elderly people. You have done a lot but in the future you will do even more!’ the rector proudly noted.
‘Carry out all your plans and bold dreams, conquer professional heights, and confidently enter a new and interesting life. You can do a lot, you have learned how to solve problems, and, I know, you will certainly be successful,’ the rector of Saratov University concluded.
Then the graduates were congratulated by Dean of the Faculty of Sociology Sergei Ivchenkov. He emphasized that the past academic year had been especially eventful and the students had gained many victories in all areas of their activities – science, education, volunteering, creativity, and sports. The dean admitted that he sadly parted with the students who had managed to make a really good showing. In his parting words, he wished them to proudly bear the title of the graduates of Saratov University.
The response speech to the university leadership, professors, and parents was given by the graduates of the university – Mr. SSU 2018 Nikolai Zakharov and the winner of the 2019 District Contest on Camp Counsellor Professional Skills Julia Samykina. They expressed the gratitude to their mentors, relatives, and friends for their help in studying and support in creative projects.
