From 25 October to 27 October Moscow hosted the All-Russia Meeting of Student Brigades devoted to the 60th anniversary of the movement and the 15th anniversary of the Russian Student Brigade Youth All-Russia Public Organisation. Saratov University delegation was the biggest one. It consisted of Rector Aleksei N. Chumachenko; Commissioner of the RSB Region Division, Head of the Office of Academic Affairs and Youth Programmes Georgii I. Bolotov; the office specialist on youth work Nadezhda Yamiyeva, and 13 students.
There the members were congratulated by honoured guests, including First Deputy Chair of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei V. Kiriyenko; Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation on Social Policy Tatyana A. Golikova.
‘More than 20 million people have attended ‘the school’ of student construction brigades. I was just a member of the student brigade, a brigade leader, a commissioner, and a commander. Perhaps I gained useful experience due to it because it was the first time I took responsibility for my team, for the public amenity you were building,’ said Sergei Kiriyenko.
At the closing ceremony SSU Rector Aleksei Chumachenko received the highest student brigade award – the badge of honour For Active Work in the Youth Movement. It was given by Board Chair of the organisation Aleksei V. Ryabtsevich and Head of the Central Office, a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Michael S. Kiselyev. It is our great achievement because SSU was first place the student pedagogy brigade in the Saratov Region appeared. Now more than 500 students are its members. It was our university where the first cooperation agreement between SSU and the Russian Student Brigades was signed, and the Office of Student Brigades was established (pedagogy, construction, service, and train guide brigades). By now more than 700 students have joined it.
The SSU student brigades are the regional platform for all the educational institutions if the region, and it unites all the kinds of brigades. The university administration closely cooperates with the brigades and its members participate in the projects aimed to develop the SSU infrastructure.
The closing ceremony was attended by representatives of ministries and boards. Then the meeting results were announced, and the winners – representatives of student brigades and regional offices – were awarded with letters of appreciation and badges of honour For Active Work in Student Brigades.
SSU got one more award won by a student of the Faculty of Sociology Liliya Astafyeva. She gained the victory in the Women Arm Wrestling All-Russia Sport Festival.
Another doctor brigade from Saratov, the MedAlliance Student Brigade, also won the Work-Perk All-Russia Doctor Brigade Contest, which was held in Kazan. The team consisted of Natalia Mehdrukh, Christina Sintseva, Ivan Medvedev, and Alexandra Savelyeva.
The next meeting will be organised in 2020 in Saint-Petersburg. Chair of the regional division of the RSB Moscow Region Division Julia Drozhzhina gave the colours of the meeting to Board Chair of the RSB Saint-Petersburg Regional Division Pavel V. Ivshin.
