Yesterday the regional deputies decided to include 19 December into the commemorate day list of the Saratov Region. Saratov University was opened on that day in 1909.
Earlier the law project had been supported by the research community, and SSU students and graduates.
On 8 May 1909 the State Duma endorsed the bill to establish Saratov University. On 23 June 1909 on board of his yacht Nicholas II signed that bill to found a university in Saratov. And on 19 December the emperor allowed to name the university after him, so the university was titled Saratov University named after Emperor Nicholas II. Then many events were organised to commemorate the university opening, and the first foundation brick was laid after prayer service and the religious procession.
Celebrating its 110th anniversary SSU has been holding many events dedicated to it, and the brightest will take place in December.
