Saratov University gained the victory in the contest within the project titled the Teaching Financial Literacy and Awareness Building Methods to Regional School Teachers. According to the contract, the academic staff of the Faculty of Economics will have educated 50 teachers by the end of the year. The course will be given in the school in the Perelyubskii District, and SSU has already signed the contract with the school.
In total, the contest moderators received 34 applications, and 20 of them became the winners. The moderators are Southern Federal University and the International Financial Centre Institute of Continuing Professional Education.
The contest goal was to re-train regional school teachers within the re-training course titled the Basics of Financial Literacy, its Teaching Methods in Schools and Colleges and Awareness Building. The course will last 72 academic hours, including tests and final exams.
It should be noted that due to this project we will not only be able to conduct an up-to-date course but implement another plan within the Development Strategy of Distanced Areas, which had been initiated by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav V. Volodin. SSU actively cooperates with the administration of distanced districts and principals, and due to the grant on teaching financial literacy to school teachers we will strengthen the mutual work in the new sphere.
Saratov University has already won a similar contest held by Southern Federal University and the International Financial Centre. Last year SSU successfully implemented the course for students-pedagogues on financial literacy teaching in schools and colleges. The course lasted 72 academic hours and consisted of three disciplines – financial literacy, financial literacy teaching, and seminars.
