On 2 September Saratov University will held the celebratory assembly devoted to the new academic year and dedicated to the SSU 110th anniversary. The event will take place at Student Square at 10 a. m.
It will be attended by not only students and members of the academic staff but SSU graduates and partners. The audience will listen to congratulations from the university administration and honoured guests. To mark the beginning of the new academic year there will be hoisted the flags of Russia, the Saratov Region, and the university.
The performers of the SSU Student Club will show their concerted items, dancing ones prepared by the Art-mix modern dance group and singing ones. The Undergraduate and Graduate Student Council will show a flash-mob and ask quiz questions.
At the end of the assembly the students will meet the deans of their faculties, directors of their institutes and colleges, curators of student groups, and tutors.
In the evening the matriculation ceremony will take place at Theatre Square. The Let’s Go! Festival will be held for the fourth time, and the festival was initiated by Chair of the State Duma Vyacheslav V. Volodin. This year more than 10,000 people will attend it.
The festival will start in the Saratov Academic Kiselev Youth Theatre, where the Rise award winners will be honoured (this contest is held among members of academic staff of universities). After the awarding ceremony People's Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Nikolayev will sing for the guests.
At 6 p. m. the Student Parade will begin from Volzhskaya Street to Theatre Square. At 6:30 p. m. the show will start. Led by chairs of student councils of Saratov universities the freshmen will give their oath. The regional universities will also perform on stage. The guests will be entertained by the performances of the RASA and HammAli & Navai. After the show the viewers will enjoy the firework.
