On November 2, Saratov University hosted the regional stage of the All-Russian Project “Big Ethnographic Dictation” took place in SSU. More than 100 participants took part in the event – SSU staff members and students as well as Saratov citizens.

The dictation consisted of 30 questions – 20 of them were the same throughout Russia, while 10 questions contained the information about this or that region. In total, participants can have 100 scores. The test lasted for 45 minutes.

At first, the audience was greeted by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs I.G. Malinskii.

‘The project is quite popular, and many young people participate in it. The dictation has been organized in our university for the third time. Its main goal is to learn about traditions of neighbouring nations. You can not only check your knowledge but find out something new during your preparation.’

Also the audience was addressed by Minister of Domestic Policy and Public Relations Ye.Yu. Shcherbakova.

‘Once again the ethnographic dictation has been organized in the Saratov Region. Symbolically, it takes place just before National Unity Day, which proves that representatives of more than 160 nations that live in the Saratov Region will celebrate this holiday in harmony. I hope you will learn something new during the dictation, and it will make you interested in broadening your knowledge.’

The right answers to the general questions will be posted on the official web-site on November, 10 and the individual results – on December, 12.

This project has been held in Russia for the third time. Last year it became international as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belorussia, and other countries joined the dictation. Then more than 367,000 people from Russia and other states participated in the dictation, and 800 of them were from the Saratov Region.
