Games, Lectures, and Master Classes at Opening of Support Center for Endowed Children

On September 1, the Support Center for Endowed Children will be opened at Gorkiy Street, 9.

It will be aimed at detecting endowed children, their support, and methodological work and research on endowment issues. The staff of the center will deliver lectures, prepare exhibitions, and organize scientific, educational, and cultural events for teachers, parents, and students – future pedagogues. Their goal is to spawn scientific and art environment fostering development of endowment. The center consists of lecture halls, a library, and a room with table games and brain teasers.

SSU professors will play mind games and give lectures as well as master classes for 7th-11th grade students.

At first the audience will participate in an open lesson “And People All Over the World Found Out About It” aimed at 8th-9th grade students. Conducted by the Mind Game Club it will include questions about Saratov and the region, photo questions, and tasks connected with our famous citizens. The lesson will be given by a specialist for educational work M.V. Bratashova.

Associate Professor of the Department of Optics and Biophotonics I.V. Fedosov delivered an educational lecture for 7th-8th grade students, entitled “Physics: World of Breakthroughs”. Its attendants will discuss the role of researchers and the way people advance in knowledge. I.V. Fedosov will speak on incredible physics, namely optics, facts.

CEO of RAYBIN, a graduate of the SSU Faculty of Physics Ye.V. Yegorov will conduct a master class “Self-Made Concept. Designing Your Life”. The speaker will not only comment on opportunities given by schools, university life, and the role of self-education in professional development but advise school students on work search.

Also guests will be able to take part in the Scratch hackathon on automatic café modelling: 9th-10th grade students will learn the Scratch basics, work by themselves, and unite their results in one net project. The hackathon will be organized by the Life-Long Educational Center for IT Specialists (the SSU Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies).

Associate Professor of the Department of Counseling Psychology A.A. Karelin will deliver an educational lecture for 7th-8th grade students, entitled “Your Abilities!”. He will talk about the roots of our abilities, talent secret, and the way modern researchers think of human genius.

All lessons, tests, and individual consultations of the SSU Support Center for Endowed Children are free.
