Research Conference “Computer Science and Information Technologies” Held in SSU
On July 2 Saratov University hosted the opening of the VIII International Research Conference “Computer Science and Information Technologies” devoted to the memory of one the university rectors – A.M. Bogomolov. The forum organizers are Saratov State University, Institute of Precision Mechanics and Control (Russian Academy of Sciences), and the regional government. The event is supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, companies Exactpro, Epam Systems, and Mirantis as well as the Research Center OKO.
There applied more than 250 people from 26 cities of 7 countries. They were welcomed by Vice-Rector for Research Work A.A. Koronovskiy. He marked the importance of the conference as IT influences almost all spheres, including science, education, and production and reminded that the forum is dedicated to the memory of Rector A.M. Bogomolov who was the first to study computer science in Saratov University. The vice-rector wished the members to have bright discussions and thanked the event organizers. A.A. Koronovskiy ended his speech with the congratulation on behalf of SSU Rector A.N. Chumachenko.
Deputy Minister of Education of the Saratov Region G.V. Kalyagina read a letter from Minister I.V. Sedova. Galina Vladimirovna also noted the input of A.M. Bogomolov into the implementation of information technologies. Thus, he was among the first to create the Federal University Information System, which influenced other universities, colleges, and schools of the Saratov Region. Besides, G.V. Kalyagina added A.M. Bogomolov’s students and followers develop computer science in the region and show high results by winning contests, Olympiads, and championships.
Director of Institute of Precision Mechanics and Control (Russian Academy of Sciences) V.A. Kushnikov expressed his gratitude to the forum organizers, too, and underlined that, traditionally, the participants exchange their experience at the conference.
Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies A.G. Fyodorova commented on the history of development of computer science in the university. She spoke in detail about A.M. Bogomolov and his achievements. His student D.V. Speranskiy became the first dean of the faculty and continued Bogomolov’s work. Antonina Gavrilovna pointed out this year they have celebrated the 18th anniversary of the faculty and said that the conference serves as a result of the work of the staff. Thus, at the beginning the faculty consisted of 2 departments, and there studied only 49 people. Now the number of bachelor, master, and postgraduate students has grown up to almost 800 people, and there are 9 departments. At the end of her speech she said the faculty graduates work in Russia and abroad, we develop IT in Saratov, and the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technologies successfully cooperates with companies.
The first plenary session report, entitled “Security Improving Models and Methods of Human-Machine Systems”, was delivered by V.A. Kushnikov, where he presented the results of his research on automatic control systems of air transport systems in terms of safety flight criterion. What is more, Vadim Alexeyevich commented on successful implementation of his discoveries in Russian enterprises.
Professor of the Programming Technology Department A.A. Shalyto talked about the history of Information Technologies and Programming Faculty (ITMO University), its courses, scientific work, participation in Olympiads, and innovations.
Then Professor of the Department of Computing Systems and Programming (Saint Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation) Yu.A. Skobtsov delivered the report “Metaheuristics”, while Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science (Tomsk State University) S.P. Moiseyeva presented the paper “Mathematical Models of Modern Information and Communication Systems and Methods of Their Usage”.
The conference program consisted of 7 sections and included the seminar “Older Generation – Active Users of the Internet”. The forum results will be announced on July 3.
