Preparatory department for International students offers a wide range of courses of different levels, length, intensity and professional specialization depending on student’s aims and objectives.
OUR PROGRAMS
- 1-year preparatory Russian language training course for entering higher education institutions. Preparatory course gives an opportunity to study subjects according to the chosen field of study. Participants of the course gain basic knowledge in Russian grammar, country studies and academic register (according to the major) which is necessary for successful communication in everyday life and studying process. The general Russian course for International students is aimed to help them develop their language skills such as speaking, writing, reading and listening. This course is designed to prepare International students to pass Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL) at Certification level I (B1) which is required for entering higher education institutions of the Russian Federation.
- course for students.This course is aimed at students who achieved Certification level I (B1) in Russian and wish to deepen their knowledge in grammar and vocabulary as well as improve speaking skills. The course is recommended for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students.
- intensive Summer language school course (60-80 academic hours). This course enables students to renew and activate their knowledge of Russian grammar basics and gain practical skills in spoken Russian.
- “Russian language for professional purposes” course
- business Russian course (Russian for businessmen). The course is focused on vocabulary necessary for business meetings, telephone conversations as well as business correspondence and the basics of business ethics in Russia.
- professional Russian course (Russian for lawyers, economists, psychologists, philologists and etc.) The focus of this course is on professional language and its specific structures and expressions characteristic of academic register. The course is designed to develop lexical and grammatical skills and includes both oral and written aspects. It also prepares students for reading professional and academic literature, listening and comprehension of professionally-oriented lectures, and enhances skills for professional discussion. The course trains students to pass the professional module and is recommended for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students.
- exam preparation course (a course for international students who want to obtain a certificate of Russian state testing system).The course introduces the format and procedure ofRussian language exams, corrects students’ knowledge of Russian grammar and explains common mistakes at exams.
- Russian language course for companies (Corporate Russian Course).The course is designed for specialists employed with Russian and international companies whose work is connected with the Russian language (for example, Russian for hospitality business abroad.) Participants of the course will learn the basics of Russian grammar and gain practical skills in spoken Russian which are necessary for working with Russian-speaking clients.
- Russian language course for bilingual children.The course is designed for bilingual children and is aimed at shaping Russian linguistic consciousness (Russian fairy-tales, poems, songs and tongue-twisters.) The course includes phonetical warm-up exercises, introduction to the basics of reading and writing and speech development games.
- online Russian language course (via Skype).The course is designed for students who can’t come to Russia but wish to learn the language with teaching guidance and online consultations.

TESTING CENTRE
The testing centre for foreign citizens gives an opportunity to pass the Russian language examination in order to get a state certificate, verifying that student’s Russian language (as a foreign language) speaking skills meet the requirements of a certain level.
The testing is done according to 6 levels:
Elementary level (A1)
The Certificate of the Elementary Level confirms that the student is able to achieve his or her minimal communicative objectives in everyday communication.
Basic level (A2)
Successful performance in the Basic Test represents a standard of competence in Russian which enables a candidate to satisfy basic communicative needs in a limited number of situations in everyday and cultural spheres.
I Certification level (B1)
The Certificate of the First Certification level confirms that the student is able to achieve his or her basic communicative objectives in everyday communication on a variety of social and cultural topics. In addition, the First Level Certificate allows its holder to enroll in a Russian university. Is required to enter higher educational institutions of the Russian Federation
II Certification level (B2)
2 nd level certificate a relatively high level of communicative competency in all communicative contexts. At this level of language command the speaker is able to conduct professional activity in Russian in the area of Humanities, Engineering and Technology and Natural Sciences. Is required to work as a specialist in the fields of humanities, natural science, engineering and technology.
III Certification level (C1)
3rd level certificate indicates that the candidate has a high level of language command in all communicative contexts, which allows him or her to conduct professional activity in Russian in the area of Linguistics, Translation, Editing, Journalism, International Relations, and Management. Gives an opportunity to work as a philologist, translator, editor, diplomat or manager in Russian organizations.
IV Certification level (C2)
4th level referred to as an advanced stage of proficiency close to the native-speaker level, provides high-level final qualification in the language. This level is obligatory for receiving Master of Arts degree and is recognized for academic purposes in the field of the Russian language. Is required to get a diploma of specialist and master in philology of the Russian language, PhD in philology and pedagogy, enables to conduct all kinds of research and pedagogical work in the sphere of the Russian language.
Each test consists of 5 sections. Each section tests a different type of language proficiency.
