10 октября 2011 г. в ходе конференции European Microwave Week в Манчестере (Великобритания) прошла встреча представителей европейских (R-8) отделений IEEE Microwave Theory and Technique Society. На встрече обсуждались различные вопросы деятельности региональных отделений, в том числе, вопросы финансирования российской секции. Саратовское отделение IEEE представлял профессор СГТУ В.В. Комаров, выступивший с сообщением о деятельности Саратовского отделения.

6 October 2011. IEEE Day celebration

On Thursday, October 6, Saratov/Penza IEEE Chapter celebrated the IEEE Day by holding its traditional biannual Workshop “Electromagnetics of Microwaves, Terahertz and Optical Waves” in Saratov State University. The IEEE Day celebration was organized worldwide in the second time in history in commemoration of the first meeting of IEEE members in 1884. At the beginning of the Workshop, the 2011 Activity report was presented by Chapter Chair Prof. N.M. Ryskin. The Workshop technical program included 7 talks. 12 IEEE Members and 5 guests attended the Workshop. After the workshop, a reception for IEEE members and guests was hold. The Workshop was very helpful for popularization of IEEE and recruiting of new members.

A new issue of "Modeling in applied electromagnetics and electronics - 2010" appeared in print. The electronic version of this issue is available on site "Modeling in electronics".

Creation of IEEE Russia Branch

In 2010,  IEEE Russia Branch Office has been created in Moscow. Please find the letter explaining the new rules and operation principles.

IEEE Day was celebrated on October 7-8 on the anniversary of the first time IEEE members gathered to share their technical ideas back in 1884. On October 7, Saratov/Penza IEEE Chapter held its annual Workshop “Electromagnetics of Microwaves, Submillimeter and Optical Waves” in Saratov State University. At the beginning of the Workshop, the 2010 Activity report was presented by Chapter Chair Prof. N.M. Ryskin. The Workshop technical program included 5 talks. 12 IEEE Members and 14 guests attended the Workshop. After the workshop, a reception for IEEE members and guests was hold. The Workshop was very helpful for popularization of IEEE and recruiting of new members.

The book of collected papers “Modeling in Applied Electrodynamics and Electronics”, Issue 9 (Saratov University Press, Saratov, 84 pages, ISSN 1816-8221) has been published. The book contains 8 research papers devoted to various problems of electromagnetic theory, simulation of microwave technique (waveguides, resonators, etc.), and vacuum and solid-state electron devices. Editor: Prof. M.V. Davidovich (Chapter Vice-Chair).

On September 7–9, 2009 Fourth conference for young scientists “Nanoelectronics, Nanophotonics and Nonlinear Physics” was held in Saratov (NNNPh’09). The conference was hosted by Saratov Branch of the Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics, Russian Academy of Science (IRE RAS). Conference program included 10 Plenary Lectures presented by invited speakers, 49 talks and 26 posters presented by young scientists and students. The presentations were divided in 5 sessions: “Micro and nanoelectronics, nanomaterials and nanostructures”, “Optics and nanophotonics”, “Acousto and magnetoelectronics”, “Nonlinear physics”. Over 100 participants attended the conference including guests from Moscow, Ulyanovsk, Ufa, Ekaterinburg. The book of abstracts was published and distributed at the conference. 2009 Chapter Workshop “Electromagnetics of Microwaves, Submillimeter and Optical Waves"

On September 24, 2009 Saratov/Penza IEEE Chapter hold its annual Workshop “Electromagnetics of Microwaves, Submillimeter and Optical Waves”. At the beginning of the Workshop, Chapter Chair Prof. N.M. Ryskin presented the 2008/09 Activity report which was approved by the IEEE members. The Workshop technical program included 7 talks, one poster and 2 Internet reports. 13 IEEE Members and 8 guests attended the workshop.
